Soft matter systems applied to material science and nanomedicine

Assembly structure is one of the key concepts in soft matter. It is an umbrella term which encompasses the various modes of organization into ordered (liquid crystals) or disordered (polymers, surfactants) structures of various degrees of complexity, yet it often relies on remarkably simple interactions and mechanisms. Self-assembly depends on chemistry as well as on different kinds of interactions between nano-objects which defines their use in various applications. Applications based on polymers, surfactants, nanoparticles and proteins that vary from antifouling materials to rheology and nanomedicine, depending on their chemistry and organization will be explored in this seminar.
