Active Matter Models in Biological Physics

Abstract: Progress in understanding fundamental characteristics in cell Biology has been achieved with the convergence of ideas from statistical physics, extended dynamical systems and simple active matter models. In this seminar I explore numerical examples related to cell segregation and cell crawling in a chemical field. I propose a mean field model to explain cell segregation and present a numerical model of an extended cell to explore collective cell crawling.
