Dynamics of the Drying Process of Polymer Solution Droplets


Drying processes of droplets on a flat substrate are commonly observed phenomena in our daily life. Because of their important roles in the nature and in the industry, drying droplets have been a topic of continued interest for several decades.
Recently, the drying processes of the droplets of complex fluids, such as colloidal suspensions and polymer solutions, are focused on as one of the important topics of the soft matter physics. In this seminar, I’ll introduce a series of our recent experimental progresses about the problem of the drying process of polymer solution droplets. My talk mainly consists of the following two topics.
-         
How to detect the local transport of polymer inside the droplet.
-         
How to control the flow field and the final shape of polymer dot formed after droplet drying.
